The path to the perfect DaRi system
There is a large maple tree in front of our house and 2 huge lime trees behind the house.
I used to have to climb up the ladder several times a year to clean the guttering.
It always took me an enormous effort to get up and get the ladder out of the garage.
I put off this unpleasant chore from weekend to weekend.
About 20 years ago, I was once again standing on the ladder full of annoyance to clear my gutter of leaves when my 8-year-old daughter stood at the bottom and started to cry: “Daddy, come down,” she cried, “I’m afraid you’ll fall down there.”
When I was finished, I went to the DIY store and bought various gutter protection systems.
Unfortunately, none of them worked well.

I then went to a tinsmith and a roofer and asked which leaf protection system they would recommend.
The answer was that there is no really good gutter protection system and that as a homeowner you have to live with the fact that you have to clean the gutter regularly.
I was desperate and thought “This can’t be right; is it really not possible to solve the problem satisfactorily? I’ve tried so many different systems and none of them were really good”.
Then I rounded up designers, technicians, engineers, mechanical engineers, roofers and tinsmiths and we sat down at a large table and first defined the criteria that a very good gutter protection system should fulfill:
It must be possible to install it in gutters with and without eaves flashing
It must have a large open area so that the rainwater drains off easily
The hole size must not be so large that tree seeds from lime trees, maples etc. fall through
The hole size must not be too small so that the holes clog quickly
The holes must be shaped in such a way that the rainwater is quickly directed into the holes
The surface must be smooth so that no leaves can get caught
It must be easy to install without any tools
It must be easy to remove
It must be firmly attached to the gutter so that it does not fly away in strong winds
It must be above the gutter so that leaves are easily blown away
It must extend to the front edge so that there are no obstacles to the foliage
It must be heat-stable, cold-stable and UV-stable
It must be maintenance-free
It should be guaranteed that the gutter is no longer blocked by leaves
After a lot of planning, drawings, trials and tests, the DaRi system was born. The DaRi system need not shy away from comparison with any other system.
In my opinion and knowledge, there is no better protection system for gutters.
Today, I look at my gutter with satisfaction and am glad that I installed the DaRi system there.
The DaRi systems from back then are still installed in the gutter and are still fully functional.
I still often say “thank you” to my daughter for giving me the impetus to install this perfect gutter protection system.
Not only do I avoid the hassle, but I have also reduced my risk of accidents when I no longer have to stand high up on the roof on the ladder.
Today, people from all over Europe are pleased and grateful that the problem of a blocked gutter could be solved so easily with the DaRi system and that the gutter remains permanently leaf-free.
